Edmonton Amateur Baseball Association (EABA) is seeking a head coach for our 18U AA team for the 2024 season. The start date is flexible, but the preferred start date is March 10th and will last until August 10th.  Additional details are provided below.

 

Job Overview

The 18U AA team is EABA’s highest-level competitive baseball team, composed of 13-14 players aged 15-18. The team has experienced significant growth over the past 2-3 years and is poised to have another successful season in 2024. The head coach will be instrumental in the team’s ongoing success.

Responsibilities

  • Provide primary leadership for the team in accordance with EABA’s core values.
  • Provide technical development for all players, with support from the Technical and Coaching Directors.
  • Assist in player evaluations and team selection in collaboration with the Technical Director and Coaching Director.
  • Develop a season plan.
  • Design practice plans and lead practices (minimum 2-3 practices per week) and provide primary game management, including strategic and tactical decision-making, and roster and pitcher management (minimum 2-3 games per week).
  • Provide input into off-field team management in collaboration with the team Treasurer and Off-field Manager.

Qualifications

Applicants must have a high level baseball knowledge and be passionate about coaching, mentoring and providing support for their players. Additional qualifications include:

  • NCCP coach certification including (and/or be willing to attain) any additional certifications per Baseball Alberta requirements.
  • Experience coaching at the AA level. Post-secondary or AAA playing experience will be an asset.
  • Updated Vulnerable Sector Check.

Compensation

Compensation will be determined based on the qualifications of the chosen candidate. The starting compensation package will be as follows:

  • $1,000 per month for a duration of 5 months (mid-March through mid-August)
  • All travelling expenses (fuel, meals and accommodations) will be covered by the team budget.
