Zone 6 Associations Unite to Launch a Pathway to AAA Baseball Program
Edmonton, Alberta – Four of Edmonton’s leading minor baseball organizations have formally united under a new Zone 6 AAA Agreement of Understanding, establishing a city-wide AAA baseball program known as the Zone 6 Edmonton Expos.
The agreement brings together the Edmonton Amateur Baseball Association (EABA), South Edmonton Elite Baseball Association (SEEBA), South Jasper Place Minor Baseball Association (SJP), and Southwest Edmonton Minor Baseball Association (SWEMBA) in a collaborative effort to strengthen elite player development across Edmonton.
Beginning in the 2026 season, the Zone 6 Edmonton Expos will operate unified AAA teams at the 13U, 15U, and 18U levels, providing a clear and consistent development pathway for athletes competing at the highest levels of minor baseball within city boundaries.
This agreement represents a significant step forward for baseball in Edmonton. By working together, we are creating a sustainable, transparent, and athlete-focused AAA program that puts development first while ensuring equal access and opportunity for players from all Zone 6 communities.
Key highlights of the Zone 6 Agreement include:
• A single umbrella AAA organization serving all participating associations equally
• City-wide player evaluations and tryouts, with teams formed by skill rather than geography
• A strong emphasis on player development, coaching excellence, and competitive integrity
• Shared governance through a representative Zone 6 Board with equal voice from each association
• Financial sustainability through centralized AAA operations and funding
• Hosting of the 14U and 16U Rawlings Cup under the Zone 6 Edmonton Expos banner
The Zone 6 Edmonton Expos will serve as the official AAA pathway within Edmonton, while grassroots baseball operations remain under the authority of each home association. This structure ensures community baseball continues to thrive while elite athletes receive consistent, high-performance training and competition.
Vision Statement: “To create a unified, city-wide AAA baseball club in Edmonton that delivers consistent player development, fosters community engagement, and cultivates competitive excellence under one governance structure.”
The Agreement is ongoing, with formal reviews scheduled every three years to ensure continued alignment, accountability, and success.
For more information on the Zone 6 Edmonton Expos, including upcoming ID camps, tryouts, and program details, families are encouraged to follow their home association communications and official Zone 6 platforms.
